One branch of our Clayhill family resides near Nashville, Tennessee. When my brother retired
from the US Navy and moved to his present home, we decided he needed an American Bulldog and presented him with Samantha
(registered Samantha Ann Smith of Clayhill), a full sister to Jaxx out of a subsequent litter born in November 2000.
Samantha later was bred to our Samson, and that litter produced Chief Seahawk Eisenhower of Clayhill,
aka Ike, in January 2003. Samantha and Ike enjoy their respective "sporting obsessions" at their home in Pleasant
View.
As one can tell from the photos, Samantha hardly looks as if
she has ever had puppies. She spends many a waking hour "dominating" that hard plastic ball, which gives her quite a
workout. She has regained her "schoolgirl figure" and is extremely fit!
Ike works out by chasing and catching his frisbee, with which he is just as obsessed as Samantha
is her ball. He chases it until his tongue is hanging out and keeps bringing it back for "one more" toss. When his
master, Ed, knows he has had enough for one day and tells him, "let's put it away," he obediently goes with
him to the shed and watches intently as the frisbee is returned to its peg. Although Ike never thinks enough is
enough, once he knows his frisbee is safely stored away, he returns to his kennel, often without command, for
some much needed rest.
Ike started out in the NKC conformation ring at HOD by winning
his class at 4 months old. Since then, his NKC wins include 2nd and 3rd place at CFABC's 2006 Ocala Bulldig Blast II and '06
HOD, respectively. Ike also has 1st and 2nd place BBC wins to his credit, acquired in May 2006/Paducah, KY, and March 2007/Jasper,
GA.
